Builders inThe City.

Within the City of London (EC1–EC4), residential life runs largely through the Barbican's brutalist estate — a listed complex of towers, terraces and arts centre that demands specialist knowledge of concrete, exposed aggregate and the estate's own material conventions — alongside period conversion flats in streets dating from the Georgian and Victorian rebuilds around Moorgate and Aldgate. Work here tends toward internal refits: a full bathroom refit, full kitchen refit, flooring and bespoke storage in apartments where the shell is sound but the original fit-out is dated, with full flat renovations the most common complete-scope commission and boiler installation handled through TB&D's Gas Safe registered partner. TB&D Construction operates across all EC districts; 9.92/10 on Checkatrade.

FAQ

Commonquestions, The City.

  • The Barbican Estate is Grade II listed, and the Estate Management has its own approval process for alterations to flats within the complex. External changes and any work affecting the estate's listed concrete fabric require Estate Management approval in addition to listed building consent from the City of London Corporation. Internal renovations — kitchen refits, bathroom refits, new flooring — require prior notice and approval but are generally achievable within the Estate's material guidelines. TB&D is familiar with the approval process.
