How long does new flooring take to install?

Accepted Answer

Engineered oak or LVT across a typical London ground floor (40–60 m²) takes 3–5 days including subfloor prep. Herringbone parquet takes longer — the pattern is laid by hand, so count 6–10 days for the same area. Carpet is usually a single day per room.

Question 2

Can you work over existing floors?

Accepted Answer

Sometimes. LVT and carpet can often be laid over existing level hard floors. Engineered wood usually needs the existing floor lifting and proper subfloor levelling. We'll assess on the site visit and tell you if any prep is needed (cost: £3–£8 per m² for levelling).

Do you supply the flooring or do I?

Either works — but our trade accounts with the main UK suppliers usually save 15–20% on retail. We can source from any brand (Ted Todd, Havwoods, Karndean, Amtico, Junckers, Kahrs) or lay materials you've bought yourself.

What subfloor preparation is included?

Accepted Answer

A flat, dry subfloor is essential for every floor type we fit. We include basic preparation (removal of old floor, light levelling, moisture testing) in the quoted price. Major levelling (self-levelling compound over a cracked screed) is priced separately if needed — typically £3–£10 per m².

Can you match or restore existing wood flooring?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We can sand and refinish original floorboards, repair damaged sections, replace missing boards with reclaimed timber, and colour-match stains to blend old and new. Full restoration of a 40 m² floor is typically 3–4 days.

Question 6

Is underfloor heating compatible with all your flooring?

Accepted Answer

Engineered oak, herringbone, stone and LVT are all UFH-compatible and work beautifully with it. Solid wood and traditional carpet with heavy underlay are not — thermal mass and moisture movement cause problems. We'll flag any compatibility issues before you commit.
